When I first saw the photos that are presented in this article, I couldn’t believe that these are the pictures of a city that really exists. I was looking for photomanipulation and drawings of the cities of the future. Only after some time (and careful reading of information about the photographs), I realized that the city shown in the pictures really exists. And that city is Dubai.
Indeed, if you take a look at these fantastic photos made by Alisdair Miller, you will easily understand my dilemma. In these photos Dubai looks exactly the same as we imagine that the cities will look like in twenty or more years. It seems that in Dubai the future has alredy happened.
It is well known that Dubai was built with money earned on the oil exploitation. We also know that owners of the oil wells have more money than any of us can imagine and we are fascinated by the ways in which this money is spent. But what we usually do not know is that the oil moguls are very aware of the fact that nothing lasts forever and that evan the oil wells will dry up one day.
So, when the oil dries up, or maybe the market slows down, Dubai will need something that will still be bringing money and that will stand out amongst the crowd. And what was the first choice? Tourism, afcourse 
If you thought that all those megalomaniac buildings and projects are conducted in Dubai just so that money could be spent just like that, you were wrong. This is all part of a well thought out plan in order to sustain the city of Dubai, even many years after the oil runs out. There are several big projects going on right now in Dubai, like The Palm, Burj Dubai,The World Islands, Hydropolis, and the Arabian Canal which leads through Dubai. Builders are very busy over there.
It’s truly amazing what billions of dollars can do. Evan now Dubai is an incredible city and give it just another 20 years and it will be like the new New York. Tourist from all around the world will come to visit all of its spectacular sites.
