It is always a good idea to keep your eye on the ball while making a catch, as long as your hands are going to grab it before it reaches your face.  Unfortunately, this guy had to learn that the hard way, and was left to suffer the embarrassment of a black eye and thousands of fans witnessing him make an ass of himself.
