How to customize Excel

How to customize Excel
I use Excel a lot, and I prefer not to see the gridlines to have more of a canvas style look. Instead of always having to change the viewing settings when opening Excel, you can set up Excel to open with your settings already in place. Since Excel's menu items don't provide default settings for some items, you can create a template worksheet that Excel will reference before opening.

Steps:
- Set up a blank worksheet with your preferred viewing settings
- Click on 'Save As'
- Change the 'Save as type' to Excel Template (*.xltx)
- Browse to the XLSTART folder on your computer (C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\XLSTART in my case)
- Change the file name to 'Book.xltx' and Save
- Restart Excel to trigger the new settings

This method should work for any display settings of your choice.
